Mental Health Conditions We Treat in San Clemente

Stillmark Mental Health offers Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs for adults whose mental health symptoms have outgrown weekly therapy, plus an Evening Virtual IOP for California residents. Every client receives an individualized treatment plan built on evidence-based care: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR for trauma when an assessment shows it is appropriate, mindfulness practice on the Orange County coast, and a community that does not end at discharge.

Below are the conditions we treat most often. If you don't see your situation listed, call admissions anyway. We'll give you an honest answer about whether our program is the right fit, and if it isn't, we'll help you find the level of care that is.

If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.

What We Treat

Mood, Anxiety, and Trauma

Depression

Depression can drain your energy and motivation, disrupt your sleep, and cut you off from the people and activities that used to matter. When weekly therapy and medication have not been enough, a structured day program provides several hours of treatment a day, with practical skills to break the cycles of withdrawal and hopelessness. More on our depression treatment page.

Anxiety and Panic

Generalized anxiety, panic attacks, and constant worry can make ordinary days feel unmanageable. Clients learn to notice anxiety early and respond with DBT distress tolerance, mindfulness, and gradual, supported exposure to what they have been avoiding, so anxiety stops running their life. More on our anxiety treatment page.

Trauma and PTSD

Trauma can show up years later as flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, numbness, or relationships that feel unsafe. Treatment starts with stabilization skills. When an assessment shows it is appropriate, EMDR is offered as an option: an evidence-based therapy that can help reduce the distress linked to painful memories. More on our trauma and PTSD treatment page.

Bipolar and Mood Disorders

For adults with bipolar I, bipolar II, and other mood disorders, PHP or IOP provides structure after a hospital stay or during a difficult period. We focus on early warning signs, protective routines, medication coordination, and repair. Clients should be medically stable and not in acute mania when they begin. More on our bipolar disorder treatment page.

What We Treat

Emotion Regulation, Focus, and Life Skills

OCD, BPD and Emotional Dysregulation

Intrusive thoughts, compulsions, intense emotions, unstable relationships, and impulsive reactions can leave you feeling out of control. DBT was built for emotional dysregulation and is the core of our program. For obsessive-compulsive symptoms, we build in structured practice resisting compulsions and tolerating uncertainty. More on our OCD treatment page and BPD treatment page.

Social Anxiety and Isolation

Loneliness is one of the most underestimated threats to mental health. In group therapy, clients practice connection in a safe setting, rebuild confidence in social situations, and leave with a plan for creating community in their own lives. That is why Community Building is one of our core approaches.

ADHD and Executive Function

Adult ADHD often looks like chronic procrastination, unfinished tasks, and a pull toward quick hits of stimulation like scrolling or gaming, with shame and anxiety building on top. We help clients build systems for starting and finishing tasks, reduce dopamine-driven habits, and treat the depression and anxiety that often come with ADHD. More on our ADHD page.

Life Skills and Career Support

Recovery also means building a life that supports it. Clients work on daily structure, time management, budgeting, and communication, and those returning to work or school, changing careers, or re-entering the workforce receive career-focused coaching that feeds directly into their aftercare plan.
