Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Mental Health in San Clemente

Weekly therapy is not always enough, and stepping away from work, school, or family for full-day treatment is not always possible. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) sits in between: 3 hours a day of structured, clinician-led treatment in San Clemente, with the rest of your day left for the life you are rebuilding. We serve adults from across South Orange County.

Our admissions team can answer your questions, verify your insurance, and help you decide whether PHP or IOP is the right level of care, usually in one call.

If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room. Our programs are outpatient and are not a substitute for emergency care.

What IOP Looks Like Here

Who IOP Is For

IOP fits adults who need more support than a weekly session but can still manage daily life. It is often the right step for depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, OCD, emotional dysregulation, or ADHD that has started to affect work or relationships. It is also a common step down after PHP or an inpatient stay. If you are in crisis or need medical stabilization, IOP is not the right level of care, and our team will help you find one that is.

A Typical IOP Day

IOP meets 3 hours a day, either 3 or 5 days a week, depending on what your treatment plan calls for. Days combine skills groups, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and emotion regulation, with clinician-led process groups and regular time with your primary clinician. EMDR is available as an option when an assessment shows it is a good fit for you. You practice new skills in group, then use them that same day at home, at work, or in class.

IOP, PHP or Evening Virtual IOP?

IOP runs 3 hours a day. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) runs about 6 hours a day for people who need full-day support. California residents who cannot attend during the day can join our Evening Virtual IOP, 5:30 to 8:30 pm, from home. Not sure which fits? A single call with admissions usually settles it, and the plan can change as you progress.

Insurance and Getting Started

Many health insurance plans cover IOP when it is medically necessary. Use our free, confidential verification form and our admissions team will check your benefits, usually within one business day, then walk you through scheduling an assessment. If you are reaching out for a loved one, you can start the process for them.
