Our Programs: PHP, IOP and Evening Virtual IOP

PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION (PHP) · ABOUT 6 HOURS A DAY

9:00 – 12:00

Psychoeducation & Group Therapy

Each day starts with an educational group such as DBT skills, healthy relationships, mindfulness training or trauma education, followed by a clinician-led process group where open discussion, support and feedback are encouraged.

The schedule adapts to the needs of the clients in our care at any given time.

12:00 – 1:00

Lunch & Beach Mindfulness

We have lunch together at the nearby beach or a park overlooking the ocean, where clients put their mindfulness skills into practice.

1:00 – 4:00

Individual Therapy & Trauma Recovery

Afternoons include individual therapy and specialized groups such as trauma processing, somatic work and holistic interventions.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

IOP is 3 hours a day, either 3 or 5 days a week, for people who need more structure than weekly therapy but want to keep working, studying, or caring for family. PHP is about 6 hours a day for those who need full-day support. Many clients step down from PHP to IOP, so care continues with the same clinical team as they progress.

Who IOP is for, what a typical day looks like, and how insurance works are covered on our Intensive Outpatient (IOP) page.

Evening Virtual IOP

Can’t step away during the day? Our Virtual IOP meets in the evening from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, 3 or 5 days a week depending on the level of care you need, so you can get intensive support after work or class without the commute. It’s built for working professionals, students and anyone who does better with treatment later in the day. You get the same evidence-based approach as our in-person program, including DBT skills and trauma-focused care, from wherever you’re most comfortable. Virtual IOP is available to California residents.

Details are on our Evening Virtual IOP page.

A Focus on Young Adults

Group of young adults laughing and talking together on the beach at sunset

Becoming an adult is hard enough on its own. For many young adults, the years meant for building friendships, independence and confidence happened during COVID lockdowns. A lot of people in their late teens and twenties are now trying to catch up on social skills and life experience they never got the chance to build. We give them a place to work on that without judgment, and to start feeling more connected and capable.

Phones and social media make it harder. Constant scrolling and comparing drives up anxiety, shortens attention spans and chips away at self-esteem. We help clients see what their phone is doing to their mood. Then we help them build habits that put them back in charge of their time and attention.

On top of that, rising living costs, an uncertain job market, and questions about how AI will change work can make the future feel out of reach, and that pressure leaves a lot of young adults stuck. Young adults are a primary focus of our PHP and IOP curriculum, which uses DBT, trauma work and mindfulness practice at the beach to help them get unstuck, figure out what they want, and take real steps toward it.
